Burnie’s Story

“I decided to set my brand new bass on fire. Why, you ask?”

In a world where shiny guitars stood untouched like museum pieces, I found myself yearning for something more. I had just bought a brand new shiny, red, short scale bass and I couldn’t connect with it. It was just like every other one in the store. I wanted a bass that had a story to tell. Little did I know that my journey towards musical enlightenment would involve fire, melted paint, and a bass that would steal my heart.

One sunny afternoon, struck by a burst of inspiration and maybe just a touch of madness, I decided to set my brand new bass on fire. Why, you ask? Well, even I couldn't answer that question with certainty. Some may call it terrible or ungrateful, and they might be right. But sometimes, you have to break the rules to make something truly extraordinary.

The aftermath was a disaster—a twisted neck, melted paint and a smell that could knock out a rhino. It seemed beyond repair. But love knows no bounds, my friends. So, Lee and I spent weeks nursing my wounded bass back to health. Sanding, adjusting, replacing. It was like rehab for an instrument.

Finally, the moment arrived. Nervously, I plugged in the resurrected bass, hoping for the best. And boom! The sound that emerged was pure magic. I swear, birds started chirping and unicorns galloped in the distance. Burnie lives!

From that day on, my bass became more than an instrument. “Burnie”, as I fondly named it, became my partner in crime, my muse with a rebellious spirit. Burnie's mischievous energy and infectious charm lit up stages, winning hearts and melting faces.

So, if you ever find yourself face-to-face with anything that you want to make your own, whether it's a shiny, untouched instrument, a blank canvas, or even a neglected recipe, consider taking a leap of faith. Embrace the unexpected, challenge the norms, and let your creativity ignite like a flame. For sometimes, the most extraordinary journeys begin when you dare to set your world on fire with your passion and personal touch.
